Pakistani cricketer Ahmed Shehzad said that there is no comparison between IPL and PSL. According to him, only those foreign players play in PSL who have retired from IPL or have gone unsold. He called this the bitter truth of his league.
Karachi: On the debate of who is better in India’s IPL and Pakistan’s PSL, Pakistan’s senior cricketer Ahmed Shehzad has shown a mirror to his league. Shahzad bluntly said in an interview that there is no comparison between PSL and IPL. He said that only those foreign players play in PSL who have either retired from IPL or whom no one even asks for in the IPL auction.
Interestingly, Ahmed Shehzad himself was not bought by any team in the PSL 2026 auction. His anger erupted when Pakistani journalists asked Sri Lankan player Kusal Mendis and South African Riley Rossow to compare the experiences of IPL and PSL.
What did Ahmed Shahzad say?
Shahzad said on his YouTube channel, “Now in PSL, you have only those players left who have either retired from IPL, or remained unsold in IPL, or who have no future in IPL, like David Warner and Steve Smith. If any current player gets a chance, he will choose IPL only. So how many will you ban?”
He asked this question to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), which is banning those foreign players who leave the PSL contract midway to play in the IPL.
Enraged at journalists’ questions
Recently, when a journalist asked Kusal Mendis, who was playing in PSL, “Sir, what is your opinion on the last time you went to IPL?” Expressing displeasure on this question, Shahzad said, “Look, what kind of questions they are asking.”
At the same time, he also took a dig at Riley Rosso’s statement. Shahzad said, “It is not clear what Riley Rosso’s record is in PSL, but he is making statements. When he is playing PSL, he cannot praise IPL. That is why he called IPL a ‘Bollywood film’ and PSL as ‘real cricket’. All these are statements given only for publicity.”
Ahmed Shahzad has told the bitter truth to the cricket league of his own country that there is no comparison between PSL and IPL and PSL cannot stand anywhere in front of IPL.
