Akshay Kumar’s Bhooth Bangla gets UA certificate from CBFC: What’s the runtime?

Bhooth Bangla CBFC certification and runtime: Bhooth Bangla, featuring Akshay Kumar, has been cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification with a UA rating. The film runs for 2 hours and 44 minutes and was approved after a few changes were made.

As part of the certification process, the board asked for five modifications. These include adding a disclaimer because the story involves elements of superstition, making sure no religious sentiments are affected, and revising certain dialogues. Some objectionable words were removed, and a few lines considered inappropriate toward women were also altered.

The film is scheduled to release on April 16. It also marks the return of director Priyadarshan to Hindi cinema and his reunion with Akshay Kumar after many years.

Bhooth Bangla marks the much-anticipated reunion of Akshay Kumar and director Priyadarshan after 14 years, following their last collaboration on Khatta Meetha (2010). Slated to release in theatres on April 17, 2026, with paid previews beginning April 16, the film blends fantasy, horror and comedy in the signature Priyadarshan style.

The story follows Arjun Acharya (Akshay Kumar), a financially struggling man who unexpectedly inherits his ancestral palace in the mysterious town of Mangalpur. Hoping to revive family fortunes, Arjun decides to host his sister’s wedding in the palace, brushing aside chilling local legends that warn no bride has ever survived the town.

The film features a star-studded ensemble cast including Tabu, Wamiqa Gabbi as the female lead, Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav and Asrani, reuniting the beloved comedy trio known for their memorable comic timing, along with Mithila Palkar as Arjun’s sister.

The music is composed by Pritam, and the film’s first single, Ram Ji Aake Bhala Karenge, and the festive track O Sundari have already generated buzz among fans.
