New Zealand’s batting condition in the 5th ODI

In the 5th ODI, New Zealand batted first and scored 268 runs for 9 wickets in 50 overs. New Zealand scored 3 half-centuries. Opener Will Young scored 56 runs. Nick Kelly scored 64 runs and Tom Latham scored 69 runs. New Zealand’s all-rounder captain Mitchell Santner, playing his 300th international match, did not do much in this match. Santner became the hero of victory in the fourth ODI but could score only 13 runs in the fifth ODI.

Hetmyer-Rutherford together hit more sixes than the New Zealand team

West Indies got the target of 269 runs, which they chased in 15 balls. West Indies won the match in just 47.3 balls, which was a miracle of the partnership between Rutherford and Hetmyer. For West Indies, these two batsmen made a fighting partnership of 95 runs in 90 balls. Together, both of them hit 9 sixes in the match, which was more than the number of sixes hit by the entire New Zealand team in the 5th ODI.

Shimron Hetmyer remained unbeaten till the end and scored 69 runs in 64 balls, which included 4 sixes and 2 fours. Whereas Sharfan Rutherford scored 61 runs in 58 balls with 5 sixes and 2 fours. Hetmyer was also given Player of the Match for his performance.

New Zealand won the series 3-2

Thanks to the strong batting of Hetmyer and Rutherford, West Indies won the 5th ODI. At the same time, New Zealand managed to win the series 3-2 after its second defeat in the series.
