8th Pay Commission: : The 8th Pay Commission has extended an important deadline, giving great relief to the employees. The 8th Finance Commission has extended the deadline for submission of memorandum from 30 April 2026 to 31 May 2026.
Let us tell you that in the recent Finance Commission meeting, many big demands were put forward by JCM.

The 8th Pay Commission has said in the notice issued on its portal that authorized/nominated nodal/sub nodal officers and offices can give their suggestions to the 8th Finance Commission in a systematic manner in the Ministry, Department or Union Territory category. It has been said in the notice that the response in all respects can be submitted till May 31, 2026. Paper based, hard copy, PDF, memorandum will not be submitted through mails. Let us tell you, the decision to extend the deadline has been taken after the request made by NC-JCM. The date has been extended further at a time when many demands have come forward.
A big meeting was held on 28th April (8th Pay Commission Meeting updates)
Earlier, a big meeting was held on 28 April. In which many big issues were raised by NC-JCM. The biggest demand from employee organizations is regarding fitment factor. On behalf of the employees, a demand of 3.83 fitment factor has been made from the 8th Finance Commission. Earlier during the 7th Finance Commission the fitment factor was 2.57. Due to which the minimum basic pay became Rs 18000.
If the fitment factor is kept at 3.83, then the minimum basic salary will increase from Rs 18000 to Rs 69000. Now it remains to be seen what suggestions are given by the Finance Commission.
6% annual increment (8th Pay Commission demand)
Employee organizations have demanded annual increment to 6 percent. At the same time, two additional increments have also been demanded during promotion.
Demand for Old Pension Scheme also (8th Pay Commission: OPS)
Apart from all this, demand for old pension has been placed. Employee organizations have requested to implement the Old Pension Scheme in place of NPS and UPS. Let us tell you, under the Old Pension Scheme, employees did not have to pay any contribution. Whereas in NPS and UPS, employees and government will also have to contribute.
The 8th Pay Commission was constituted in November 2025. The report has to be submitted to the Pay Commission within 18 months.
