7th Pay Commission: Huge increase in these 2 allowances of central employees

The Central Government has increased the Dearness Allowance (DA) of employees to 53% under the 7th Pay Commission in July 2024. When DA exceeds 50%, some allowances are increased as per rules. Under this, dress allowance and nursing allowance have been increased by 25%.

Increase in dress and nursing allowance

The Health Ministry has announced that the dress and nursing allowance of employees working in central government hospitals and institutions like AIIMS New Delhi, PGIMER Chandigarh, JIPMER Pondicherry will be increased by 25%. Its objective is to reduce the problems related to inflation of employees.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoH&FW) has recently announced a 25% increase in dress allowance and nursing allowance for eligible employees. This is in line with the government rule according to which special allowances are revised whenever DA crosses the 50% limit.

Instructions to implement amendment

All institutions have been directed to immediately implement the new allowances and follow the rules of August 2017. Emphasis has also been laid on providing benefits of allowances to the employees on time. This change is another step of the government towards providing relief to the employees and pensioners from the impact of inflation and improving their lifestyle.
