Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala’s famous businessman Bobby Chemmanur has made a unique announcement. He has announced a reward of Rs 5 lakh for anyone who finds and brings back the 70-year-old bicycle stolen from near Edappally toll. Not only this, if the thief changes his mind and returns the bicycle himself, he will also be given a good job so that he can give up theft and live a respectable life.
What is so special about this bicycle?
Bobby Chemmanur wrote on social media that the thief can return the bicycle by directly calling his phone number 7994811116. By doing this his identity will be kept completely secret and he will also be given reward money. Bobby wrote, “The owner must be feeling more sad than I was after reading the news of this theft, who has lost a priceless memento of his generations.”
On this announcement of Bobby Chemmanur, bicycle owner M.B. Prakash has expressed happiness. His bicycle was stolen from outside a shop near Edappally toll on Wednesday evening. This is not an ordinary bicycle, but a 70 year old one which was bought by Prakash’s father M.R. Balakrishnan gifted it to him when he was just 10 years old.
He was keeping the promise given to him by his father!
Balakrishnan, who worked at Premier Tires Company, initially used to ride this bicycle himself, later he gave it to his son Prakash. Before leaving this world, Balakrishnan had taken only one promise from his son, “Never spoil this bicycle nor sell it to anyone.” Prakash took his father’s words as a stone’s throw. Be it going to the shop or the temple, he carried his bicycle with him everywhere, as if it was a part of his body.
Prakash had fallen from this bicycle only once in 70 years. He has also traveled in metro with this bicycle. The sad thing is that just a day before his father’s death anniversary, this bicycle was stolen. Prakash had a dream that he would give this bicycle to his grandson, which is currently unfulfilled.
In this matter, the police have registered a case and started investigation. Police say that after examining the CCTV footage, the thief is seen taking the bicycle towards Vattekunnam area.
