5 girl students from government schools of Delhi have been selected for the Space Science Workshop to be held at the US Space and Rocket Center in America. The girl students selected from over 400 applicants will get the opportunity to learn STEM education and at an international level.
The talent of students of government schools is once again going to be revealed to the world. Five girl students from Delhi government schools have been selected for the Space Science Workshop organized at the prestigious US Space and Rocket Center in America. These girl students have achieved this feat after passing a difficult selection process among more than 400 applicants. In this workshop to be held in October-November 2026, they will get practical education in space science and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) at international level.
Only 5 girl students were selected from more than 400 applicants
More than 400 students from government and government-aided schools of Delhi had applied for this programme. In the first phase, 130 students were shortlisted on the basis of STEM assessment and Statement of Purpose (SOP).
After this, the participants prepared and presented their science-based projects in the regional workshop. The five best projects were selected on the basis of scientific thinking, analytical ability and quality of the project. The girl students of these projects got the opportunity to go to America.
Practical experience of space science will be available in America
The selected girl students will participate in a week-long special training program at the US Space and Rocket Center in America. During this time, she will participate in practical sessions, interactive STEM workshops and scientific activities related to space science.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, while handing over the travel tickets to the selected girl students, said that the students of India have immense potential for scientific research and innovation. He said that such programs especially inspire girl students to move forward in the field of science and technology.
Scope of STEM education expanding through ‘Saksham’ initiative
The program is being organized under the ‘Saksham’ initiative in collaboration with Delhi Government and Honeywell Technologies. Its objective is to promote STEM education among girl students of government and government-aided schools.
The initiative is currently operating in 12 schools and aims to reach around 12,000 students by the year 2029. Apart from Delhi, this program is also being expanded to Pune, Bengaluru and Gurugram.
