Due to the bravery of women in the capital region of Arunachal Pradesh, two major incidents were averted. In this case, the police have arrested a 19-year-old youth, who is accused of stalking two women, forcibly entering their houses and attempting to rape them.
The accused has been identified as John Lodha, resident of Seppa in East Kameng district.
According to the police, the first incident took place in the Naharlagun area around 3 am on June 7. A woman told the police that an unknown youth followed her to her house. After this he started trying to enter the house. According to the woman, the young man had two scissors and was trying to enter through the window and door. During this time the woman got very scared and immediately informed the police.
The second incident came to light about half an hour after the first incident. This incident took place in Lekhi area under Nirjuli police station. Police say that the same young man entered the rented room of a girl while she was sleeping. The allegation is that he pressed the girl’s mouth and cut her clothes with scissors with the intention of raping her. Suddenly the girl’s eyes opened and instead of getting nervous, she acted with courage.
He fought the accused bravely. During the rescue, the accused also caused some injuries on the girl’s face. When the girl raised an alarm, the accused fled from the spot. Itanagar Naharlagun area Superintendent of Police Nyelam Nega said that investigation was started on the basis of the complaints of both the women. With the help of CCTV cameras installed in the area and other clues, the police have identified the accused and arrested him.
Praising the bravery of the two women, the SP said that their alertness and immediate information to the police helped in catching the accused. Police have registered a case against the accused under various sections of the Indian Justice Code (BNS).
