Three Idiots… is a film which is considered a cult classic film of today’s times. This is a film which had everything. Love, friendship, comedy and lots of emotional scenes. If you are asked which is the most emotional scene of this film, then you will be confused as to how to say one, because there are many such scenes which touch the heart. Be it the running away of two friends to find a friend or the baby delivery scene of Mona Singh. Every scene of this film is special. There is another such scene which gives goosebumps and that is the suicide scene of the film’s character Joy Lobo.
Ali Fazal has played the role of Joy Lobo in the film. We can talk separately about how capable an actor Ali is, but he breathed life into even this small character. Joey’s entry, the guitar in his hand and his death scene… Joey’s character comes on screen for a very short time but for as long as he comes, he occupies the entire screen. Joy’s death scene comes at the end of the All is Well song in the film, which in itself shows how amazing a director Rajkumar Hirani is… but there is another character in the film, knowing about whom you will be convinced that Why does Raju’s filmography seem perfect?
Ali Fazal’s father’s character
Madhav Vaze has played the role of Joy Lobo i.e. Ali Fazal’s father in the film 3 Idiots. Even though Madhav’s character appears on the screen for a few moments, the beauty of his face remains memorable. Do you know that Raju Hirani had postponed the shoot of the film for a year to find this character. The casting of the film was done and the film was ready for shoot, but Raju was not able to find any actor for Joy’s father. Raju wanted this character to be played by someone with whom the public would instantly connect with and would never forget the innocence of that face, but the problem was that Raju was not able to find that face.
Trying to perfect a small role
Raju Hirani’s casting team auditioned many people to perfect this small role but no one was found as the person Raju wanted. In an interview, Rajkumar Hirani told that he looked at many faces for this role but he could not find that face. Raju told that he and his team were becoming very frustrated but still Raju kept postponing the shoot of the film for almost a year until he found the person he was looking for. Raju told that one day he was sitting in his office when his eyes fell on a magazine lying on the table.
A face was printed on the magazine
Raju told that a poster of a 1970s Marathi play was printed on the magazine. There was a child in that poster. Raju told his team that today perhaps the age of this child would be around the age of that character. There was the same innocence on the face of that child that Raju had been searching for for so long. Raju asked his team to find that child and in this way Raju and his team met Marathi theater actor Madhav Vaze.
Who is Madhav Vaze?
Madhav may not be talked about much in Hindi cinema, but he is a well-known face of Marathi theatre. Madhav works in the field of acting and direction in Marathi theatre. He has been a part of many big plays. Aamir liked Madhav’s work in this film so much that Aamir even talked about doing theater with Madhav. It’s amazing that a director put the film on hold for a year in search of a face, and that face was such that when you actually see it on the screen, you feel that there is nothing wrong with it. Madhav had breathed life into a small character. This character of his is one of those characters that will always be remembered.
