New Delhi [भारत]July 12 (ANI): Three promising golfers from Delhi Golf Club (DGC) will represent India at the 78th Singapore Open Amateur Championship to be held at the Bukit Course of Singapore Island Country Club from July 14 to 17.
This prestigious event, organized by the Singapore Golf Association, is one of the premier amateur golf tournaments in Asia and will feature the top male and female amateur golfers from across the region and beyond. The championship is also a World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) counting event, the winner of which will receive an invitation to compete in the prestigious Singapore Open.
The Indian contingent from DGC includes Deepak Yadav, Chaitanya Pandey and Ranveer Mitru, all of whom expressed their excitement at representing the country on the international stage.

Deepak Yadav: This is a special moment
Deepak Yadav described the selection as a special milestone in his career. He said, “It’s a great feeling. It’s everyone’s dream to represent India at the international level. I’ve been there before, but this is a very special moment. It’s the dream of any player who wants to play golf and starts playing golf. Their dream is to go and represent India. Hopefully, I want to have a professional career next year.”
Chaitanya Pandey: Will get a great learning experience
Fourteen-year-old Chaitanya Pandey, who is currently ranked among the top five players in the Indian amateur circuit, believes that the tournament will be an important learning experience. He said, “I am very proud to represent my country outside India at the Singapore Open Amateur Golf Championship. I am 14 years old now and have been ranked in the top 5 in the Indian Amateur Circuit. This will definitely be a great experience for my career in developing my game.”
Ranveer Mitru: Excited for the challenge
Ranveer Mitroo, who is set to make his third appearance for the India men’s national team after previously representing the country at the junior level, is looking forward to facing the challenge. “I’m really excited. It’s always an honor to play for your country. This is my third time playing for the men’s national team. I have represented India three times as a junior. I’m really excited for this challenge. Weather-wise, there will probably be tough conditions. I’m looking forward to the challenge,” he said.
First played in 1948, the Singapore Open Amateur Championship has long served as a platform for emerging talent, with many of its former champions going on to forge successful professional careers. (ANI)
