27 products of Uttarakhand got GI tag
Roorkee (Uttarakhand) [भारत]July 27 (ANI): Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday participated in the ‘Pratibha Samman Ceremony’ organized by Vidya Bharti All India Institute of Education at Government Secondary School, Roorkee in Haridwar district.
CM Dhami, in a post on X, emphasized that the Uttarakhand government has worked to give national and global recognition to the state’s rich cultural heritage, traditional handicrafts and local products. He said, “In this regard, 27 products of the state have received the Geographical Indication (GI) tag. With the unique identity of these products being established, local producers, farmers, artisans and people associated with handicrafts are getting new markets, better prices and more employment opportunities.”
CM Dhami paid tribute to Saint Ravidas
Earlier on July 25, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had participated in the state-level workshop of Samrasata Sankalp Abhiyan organized to commemorate the 650th Prakash Parv of Sant Shiromani Guru Ravidas Maharaj at a local hotel on Tyagi Road in Dehradun.
Paying tribute to the revered saint, the Chief Minister said that the teachings and ideals of Guru Ravidas remain timeless and highly relevant to the society.
The Chief Minister said that the life of Saint Ravidas is a symbol of the rich cultural tradition of India which has guided the society towards equality, humanity, social justice and harmony. Through his teachings and exemplary life he inspired people to rise above social evils like untouchability, discrimination and caste-based inequality.
He emphasized that Guru Ravidas believed that a person’s identity should not be defined by caste but by his character, actions and values.
Dhami said Guru Ravidas advocated simple devotion, free from rituals and ostentation, in which a pure heart was the basis of life.
Referring to his famous message, “Man changa to kathauti mein Ganga”, the Chief Minister said the saint’s teachings continue to inspire inner purity and social harmony.
He said that Guru Ravidas had envisioned an egalitarian society where every person is treated with respect, there is no place for discrimination and no one remains hungry. His concept of Begumpura, a society free from suffering and inequality, serves as a guiding ideal.
The Chief Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the country is realizing the ideals of social harmony and Antyodaya of Guru Ravidas. (ANI)
