1984 Anti-Sikh Riots: LG handed over appointment letters to 47 victims of Sikh riots, said- this is a symbol of returning self-respect

The victims of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots have received a big gift from Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinay Saxena. In this series, LG VK Saxena on Thursday handed over appointment letters to 47 victims of anti-Sikh riots. At the same time, 6 additional appointment letters will be issued to the heirs of the beneficiaries who have crossed the service age. This information has been given in a statement.

Vinay Saxena handed over these appointment letters to the riot victims in a program organized in Tilak Vihar area of ​​West Delhi. During this, he told that 437 pending applications filed for appointment are being verified. Mainly the victims of 1984 Sikh riots live in Tilak Nagar. At the same time, the LG of Delhi directed to organize a special camp to speed up the solution of the problems of the victims.

Instructions to organize special camp for solution

According to the statement, Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinay Saxena directed the Revenue Department to organize special camps to expedite the resolution of the problems of riot victims. Saxena said the name of the colony, commonly known as Widow Colony, would be changed based on the recommendations of the residents. He also approved a proposal seeking relaxation in recruitment eligibility for the families of the victims.

He said that the 1984 riots were a stain on Indian democracy. According to the statement, last month the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee had requested the Lieutenant Governor to consider the applications of all eligible applicants. The application given by the Gurdwara Management Committee also includes the heirs of those beneficiaries who had crossed the age of service or who had died.

The Lieutenant Governor said that 47 victims of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots were given appointment offer letters after relaxation in recruitment eligibility.
