Nag Panchami Date and Time: In Sanatan Dharma, Nag Devta is worshiped on the festival day of Nag Panchami. Nag Panchami is celebrated every year on the fifth day of Shukla Paksha in Shravan. Worshiping the snake god on this day is considered a symbol of reverence towards nature. At the same time, the snake deity is the ornament around the neck of Lord Shiva. This is the reason why snakes are worshiped ritually and they are prayed for the happiness and prosperity of the family, protection of children and freedom from fear. Now the question is arising that when will Nag Panchami be celebrated this year?
According to Drik Panchang, this year Panchami Tithi is starting from 4:52 pm on 19th August and will continue till 05:05 pm on 17th August. This time there is no confusion regarding the date because Nag Panchami will be celebrated on Odia date i.e. on 17th August only. If we talk about the auspicious time of worship on the day of Nag Panchami, it will be from 5.51 am to 8.29 am. The time of puja auspicious time is going to last for 2 hours 37 minutes.
12 types of snakes are worshiped
On the day of Nag Panchami, the worship of snakes reaches the snake gods. 12 types of snakes are worshiped on this day, which include the names of Anant, Vasuki, Shesha, Padma, Kambal, Karkotak, Ashvatara, Dhritarashtra, Shankhapala, Kaliya, Takshak and Pingal. Milk, sweets, flowers and lamps are used in the worship of the idols of snake deities. In many places people also feed milk to real snakes.
What is the religious significance of Nag Panchami?
It is believed that there is a special religious significance behind worshiping the snake god on the day of Nag Panchami. By worshiping on this day, the effects of Kaal Sarp Dosh and Sarp Dosh are reduced. Not only this, the inauspicious effects associated with Rahu-Ketu are reduced. At the same time, there is happiness and peace in the house and the fear of untimely death is eliminated. Vasuki snake, being the ornament of Shiva, is considered a symbol of divine powers.
