Priyanka Chopra is preparing for her much-awaited return to Indian cinema with SS Rajamouli’s ambitious film Varanasi, starring Mahesh Babu in the lead.
During the latest episode of the Jonas Brothers’ YouTube podcast, Priyanka joined her husband Nick Jonas and his brothers Kevin and Joe Jonas for a candid conversation.
She opened up about the massive project and revealed that she has been working on it for nearly 14 months.
Priyanka clarified that although she is widely known for her Bollywood films, Varanasi is a South Indian production.
“I’ve been working on it for almost 14 months now. But this filmmaker, his name is SS Rajamouli, is known to take that kind of time to make movies,” she said.
She praised Rajamouli’s detailed filmmaking style and said his blockbuster RRR reflected the scale and grandeur for which he is known.
Priyanka also recalled a fun conversation with her brother-in-law Joe Jonas, who had spoken to her about RRR even before she had watched the film.
“You were like, ‘There’s this Indian movie that came out. I saw it,’” Priyanka said, recalling Joe’s reaction to the Rajamouli film.
Speaking about Varanasi, Priyanka described it as an epic adventure that travels across different parts of the world and through time.
“He called me for this movie, and it’s called Varanasi. It’s this epic adventure around the world and in time. It has taken a while, but I’m very excited about it. It comes out in April 2027,” she said.
The Jonas brothers also expressed their excitement about the project. Kevin Jonas praised RRR and said he was looking forward to seeing Rajamouli’s next film.
Priyanka avoided revealing major details about her character but offered fans a playful hint about the action sequences.
“I do so many amazing slow-motion jumps, and that’s all I can say,” she teased.
Varanasi is among the most anticipated Indian films currently in production. Directed by SS Rajamouli, the film features Mahesh Babu in the lead, with Priyanka Chopra playing a key role.
