If the journey of Rajasthan Royals has started on a strong note in IPL 2026, then one reason for this is the explosive batting of Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal. But apart from this, the other reason is star fast bowler Joffra Archer, who has appeared in the most dangerous form this season. In the power play itself, Archer’s fiery balls have increased the problems of the batsmen. Not only this, now Archer has made a record which no other bowler could do in the history of 19 seasons of IPL.
Wicket on first ball, record made
Kolkata Knight Riders Archer made this record on his very first ball in the match played against on Sunday 19th April. This star bowler of England bowled opener Tim Seifert on the very first ball against Kolkata. This not only gave an excellent start to Rajasthan, but also a special achievement was registered in the name of Archer.

Actually, Tim Seifert is not the first batsman to be dismissed by Archer on the first ball. This was the third consecutive match in which this stormy pacer took a wicket on the very first ball of the innings. Earlier, Archer had dismissed Phil Salt against Royal Challengers Bangalore and then Abhishek Sharma on the very first ball against Sunrisers Hyderabad. In this way, Archer became the first bowler in IPL history to take a wicket on the very first ball of the innings in 3 consecutive matches.
Archer equaled Shami
Not only this, Archer also equaled the record of Mohammed Shami. Till now Shami was the only bowler who had taken a wicket on the first ball of the innings 5 times in IPL. Archer equalized it by dismissing Seifert. Now he also has 5 wickets in his name on the first ball of the innings. Apart from this, till the 28th match of IPL 2026, Joffra Archer has taken the maximum number of 6 wickets in the powerplay this season.
