₹52 Lakh Silver Smuggling Racket Busted In Raipur; 2 From Maharashtra Held

Raipur: In a significant development, Khamtarai police in the capital city, Raipur have uncovered a case of silver smuggling worth ₹52 lakh. Two youths from Maharashtra have been arrested in connection with the incident. The police seized 56 kg 300 grams of silver and an electric scooter, bearing registration number CG4P Q8047 (Ather brand), from the accused.

The incident unfoldedwhen the Khamtarai police received a tip-off that two individuals were transporting silver slabs on a two-wheeler from Metal Park Urla towards Khamtarai. Acting on the information, a police team set up a blockade at Bhanpuri Chowk.

Soon after, an e-scooter matching the description was intercepted by the team. Upon checking the vehicle, the two individuals were identified as Omkar Jadhav and Ajay Gazege, both residents of Maharashtra. A search of their bags led to the recovery of a large quantity of silver in slab form.

When the police demanded documentation for the silver being transported, the two men failed to provide any satisfactory explanation or valid papers. They were taken into custody, and further investigation into the source and intended destination of the silver is currently underway.
