Meghalaya -born Zubeen Garg’s full name was Zubine Borthakur. He entered the music world at a very young age. However, he got his real identity from the song ‘Ya Ali ..’ from the 2006 director Anurag Basu’s film Gangster. Apart from Hindi, he sang songs in many languages. Zubeen Garg’s personal life
Zubeen Garg was born to Mohini Mohan Borathhakur and Ili Borthakur in a Assamese Brahmin family in Tura, Meghalaya. He was named after composer Zubine Mehta and named his nickname Garg. His father Mohini Borathhakur was a magistrate and was also a lyricist and poet and his mother Ily Borthhakur was a singer. Her younger sister Jonki was Borathkur actress and singer, who died in a car accident in Sonitpur district in February 2002. He released the album Jixu in 2002 in memory of Jonki. His second sister is Dr. Palme Borthakur. He married Garima Saykia Garg in 2002.

Zubeen Garg started singing at the age of 3
Zubeen Garg started singing from the age of three. His first Guru was his mother, from whom he learned the song. He learned to play tabla from Pandit Robin Banerjee for 11 years. Guru Ramani Rai taught him Assamese folk music. Garg started composing songs from his school days. He got the confidence to become a professional singer when he won the gold medal with his performance at the Youth Festival held in 1992. She made her debut in the music world with her first Assamese album Anamika, which was released in November 1992. His earlier recorded songs ‘Tumi Junu Pariba Hun ..’ and ‘Tumi Junaki Hubakh ..’ were for album Ritu, which were released in 1993. He released several other albums such as Japunore Jur (1992), Junaki Mon (1993), Maya (1994), Asha (1995) etc. Before coming to Mumbai in 1995, he released his first Bihu album Ujan Periti. He sang songs in many Bollywood films.
