Who is Zohran Mamdani?
Zoharan Mamdani was born on 18 October 1991 in Uganda. His parents are renowned Indian filmmaker Mira Nair and Ugandan scholar Mahmood Mamdani. Mamdani came to New York City in his childhood while in school and obtained American citizenship in 2018. He started politics by joining the Democratic Socialists of America in 2017. In 2020, he won the Democratic primary and represented the 36th district of Queens in the New York State Assembly. After this he was re-elected without any opposition in 2022 and 2024. Mamdani is married to Syrian-American artist Rama Dubaji.
