Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has called for renewed international pressure on Russia and timely support for Ukraine, following a series of missile strikes that injured 12 people, including students, on a university campus in Kyiv.
Zelenskyy reported that Russia launched 16 ballistic missiles and over 280 drones overnight, targeting not only Kyiv but also crucial infrastructure across multiple regions including Vinnytsia, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, and Odesa. The attacks specifically hit energy facilities, logistics hubs, and urban infrastructure.
“The number of people injured in the Russian strike on a university campus and the surrounding area yesterday evening has risen to 12. Five of them are students and university staff,” Zelenskyy stated. He emphasized that delays in delivering interceptor systems like Patriot and NASAMS directly aid Russia’s ‘terrorist campaign’. He stressed that every such delay means another Russian strike, leading to more casualties and destruction.
Zelenskyy reiterated his plea to European nations and the US for ‘real’ support, urging them to provide the necessary tools to destroy Russian missile launchers. He highlighted that Ukraine should not be left to face this conflict alone, as Russia’s actions continue to cause deaths and prolong the war. This comes amidst Russian President Vladimir Putin’s recent assertion that Russia and Ukraine could still achieve peace, though he maintained that Russia would achieve its ‘special military operation’ objectives regardless.
