Asha Bhosle granddaughter Zanai Bhosle: India continues to mourn the loss of legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle. And now her granddaughter Zanai Bhosle shared a deeply emotional message following the icon’s funeral. The young singer and performer took to social media to thank fans for their overwhelming love and to reflect on the extraordinary legacy left behind by the music legend.

Asha Bhosle, fondly called Asha Tai by admirers and colleagues, passed away on April 12 at the age of 92. The celebrated singer died at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital due to multiple organ failure after being admitted a day earlier for severe exhaustion and a chest infection. Her funeral took place on April 13 at Shivaji Park crematorium, where she was laid to rest with full state honours.

The emotional scenes at the funeral moved many fans, especially when Zanai Bhosle was seen breaking down while paying her last respects. The young artist shared a heartfelt message soon after the ceremony, revealing how overwhelmed she felt by the outpouring of support from across the country.

“So overwhelmed with emotions, I’ll write something when I can, but I have to say that there were so many people who have respected her and honoured her today and beyond it all shown her so much love,” Zanai wrote on Instagram.

She added, “I thank you from the bottom of my heart. She deserved every bit of it. I realise that she lives on in every one of us in our hearts forever and she has seen it all from above.”

Later, Zanai also dropped a heartfelt video with her late grandmother that perfectly described their adorable bond. The singing legend’s granddaughter also revealed an inside joke the two shared together, writing, “As I wake up this morning, I realise I have lost my partner in crime, my bestfriend, a person who completed my entire world and the first person to hold me when I was born. What do I do now? Who am I supposed to wake up and give a hug to in the morning and have chai with? Who’s going to be waiting for me everyday when I come home or who am I supposed to crack lame jokes with.”

Nation pays tribute to music legend

Asha Bhosle’s passing has triggered tributes from across the world. Political leaders, film stars and musicians remembered her as one of the greatest voices in Indian music history.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Hema Malini, Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar were among those who honoured her legacy online. At the funeral in Mumbai, several film personalities, including Ranveer Singh, Vicky Kaushal and Aamir Khan, gathered to pay their respects.
