India’s Yuki Bhambri and his American ally Robert Galloway finished their journey in Bordeaux ATP Challenger as runners-up. The duo put up a stiff fight against the pair of Portugal’s Francisco Cabral and Austria’s Lucas Miedler in the final.
However, the second-seeded Indo-American allies couldn’t hold their nerves and eventually lost the contest by 6-7 (1) 6-7 (2) to the fourth-seeded pair. Earlier, the Bhambri-Robert duo outclassed France’s pair of Quentin Halys and Albano Olivetti by 7-5 6-3 in an hour and eight minutes on May 17. After beating the French duo, they beat Brazil’s Rafael Matos and Marcelo Melo in the doubles semi-final.
Talking about the champions Cabral and Miedler, they have now bagged two titles this season. Earlier they emerged victorious at the Madrid Challenger that took place from April 7 to 13. Besides the couple of title wins, they also finished as runners-up in the Estoril Open and the Oeiras Open. With the latest success, Cabral has added 15th trophy in the secondary circuit. The Portuguese’s profile also glitters with a couple of ATP titles. The 28-year-old is also the third-most successful Portuguese player in Challenger doubles titles, following João Cunha e Silva (24) and Nuno Marques (19).
