YRF Entertainment, the streaming platform of Yash Raj Films, has appointed content industry veteran Saugata Mukherjee as Head of Content. This step is being considered a big step towards the digital content expansion of the company.

Saugata Mukherjee’s experience at Sony Liv
Saugata Mukherjee recently served as Head of Content and Executive Vice President at Sony Liv. There he successfully handled content strategy, planning of new shows, and original programming in different languages. Under his tenure, Sony Liv became a leading premium streaming platform in India. During this period, popular shows like Scam 1992, Maharani, Rocket Boys, Gullak and Freedom at Midnight were made, which received more than 100 major awards.
International recognition
Two of Saugata’s projects – Arya and Rocket Boys – were nominated for International Emmy Awards. This clearly shows their content understanding and global recognition.
Previous Experience: HBO Max and Hotstar
Before Sony Liv, Saugata led the launch of HBO Max in India. Additionally, he was part of the initial leadership team of Hotstar (now Jio Hotstar), which grew it into one of the largest streaming platforms in the world.
