Brain Health: Bottled water and healthy fish can make you sick. The new study has revealed that they are affecting brain health. They can increase depression.
Health Study: Have you ever thought that the bottled water or healthy fish you eat can spoil your mood. Yes, a new study has revealed shocking that microplastics present in these things are damaging not only the body but also brain and mental health. According to research, these micro plastic particles affect our gut microbiome. Which can develop symptoms like depression and colon.
What are microplastics and how do they affect the body?
New stamicroplastic is very small plastic particles, which have less than 5 millimeters size. These fish, salt, bottled water and even are found in the air. Every person is taking them inside the body daily by eating, breathing and skin contact. The new study prepared a microbiom culture from 5 healthy volunteers stool samples and 5 types of common microplastics have been found in it. Which included polystyrene, polypropylene, low-density polyethylene (LDPE), Polymethyl Methiqrilate (PMMA) and Polythine Tereftlate (PET). The results found that these microplastics made changes in the structure of intestinal bacteria that were similar to the patterns found in people suffering from depression.
Gut microbiom-body ‘second brain’
Researchers reported that the billions of microorganisms in the intestines affect our body’s microbiom, the gut microbiom of our body. This is why scientists call it ‘second brain’. When the microplastic changes the structure of these microorganisms, its effect can reach the brain and mental health.

Study warning
The lead researcher Christian-Deutsch said that it has not been proved that microplastic depression is not yet proved, but it is certain that it affects our microbiom. Therefore it is very important to reduce microplastic exposure. He also reported that microplastic surfaces form new habitat for chemicals and bacteria, causing some bacteria to grow rapidly and some are finished.
