To make Paya Soup, you will need 500 grams of Paya, 3 onions, ginger-garlic paste 2 teaspoons, red chilli powder 2 teaspoons or as per taste, turmeric powder 1 teaspoon, salt as per taste or 2 teaspoons, coriander powder 2 teaspoons, garam masala 1 teaspoon, paste of 8 to 10 green chillies, green coriander at least a handful. Apart from this, you will need some spices like bay leaves, green cardamom, cinnamon, cumin, mace, cloves, peepli, black pepper. Now know the recipe.
Paya Soup Recipe
- First of all, after washing the paya thoroughly, put it in the cooker and also add water to it. After this, take all the whole spices, tie them in cotton cloth and keep them in it for a month. Now boil it for some time.
- When the cooker whistles one to two times, open it and clean off the dirt and hair accumulated on the pan thoroughly with a knife. At this stage the payas are slightly melted, hence it is easy to clean and cut.
- After cleaning the paya, cut it into pieces as per your choice and keep it covered aside.
- Now chop the onion finely. Fry it till it turns golden and then put it in the mixer and prepare a paste.
- Heat oil in a big pan and after the rawness goes away, add bay leaves. After this, add onion, ginger-garlic paste and fry for some time.
- When onion, garlic and ginger are roasted, add dry spices like turmeric, chilli, salt, coriander powder, salt to it and fry it while stirring again for some time.
- After the masala is ready, add paya to it. Also add water as per requirement. Add chopped green chillies and cook well until it melts.
- When the paya melts, add green coriander to it and also add garam masala. Your hot paya soup is ready. Which you can drink directly or enjoy with naan.
