Anna Leigh Waters closed out the PPA Hong Kong Slam in her usual style. She clinched both women’s doubles and mixed doubles gold and did not drop a single game all week.
The tournament took place from October 19 to 25 at Kai Tak Arena. It was the first PPA Tour Asia 1500 event and also the finale of the tour’s 10-stop 2026 season. The tournament had a USD 1.1 million prize pool, the largest in Asian pickleball history.
In the women’s doubles final, Waters and long-time partner Anna Bright beat Tyra Hurricane Black and Jorja Johnson 11-6, 11-4. The top seeds came to Hong Kong having been unbeaten as a pair for more than 400 days, and they stretched that run once again.
A few hours later, Waters and Bright faced each other across the net. Waters and Ben Johns won the mixed doubles title 11-4, 11-3 over Bright and Hayden Patriquin. It was an emphatic reply to the Las Vegas Open final earlier this month, which Bright and Patriquin had won 11-9, 11-7.
Taking to Instagram, she wrote, “Hong Kong, you were unreal Leaving with two and a full heart! Women’s doubles with @annabright.pb and mixed doubles with @benjohns_pb … I say it every week, but I truly have the best partners in the game!
“We didn’t drop a single game all week, and that doesn’t happen without the people behind the scenes. To my family and my team, thank you for carrying me through this entire Asia swing. I feel your support in every match, no matter how far from home we are”.
She further added, “To the @ppatourasia staff, thank you for an incredible week. And to the Hong Kong fans, your energy is something I will never forget. Seeing the love for this sport grow across the world makes my heart so happy! A quick reset at home, then it’s Worlds in Dallas. Fight Fight Fight”.
