Filmmaker Farah Khan recently opened up about her views on marriage and motherhood. In her new vlog, she recalled when she wanted to get married at 23, while her mother was against it.
Khan, in an interaction with social media influencer Apoorva Mukhija on her YouTube channel, shared her perspective on the right age for marriage. When Mukhija, 23, expressed her wish to get married soon, the ‘Tees Maar Khan’ (2010) director said, “Don’t ever get married so young.”
She further said, “At 23, I wanted to get married. I thought my life is now over. ‘Kya hi hai life mein (What else is left in my life now)?’ And my mom was like, ‘If you get married so young, I will throw you out of my house.’ I cried and created a scene. I said, ‘Other parents want their daughters to get married and you are my dushman (enemy)’.”
“But today, I am grateful that I got married around 40. I am very happy. I have three beautiful children, a good husband. At 40, you do whatever you want,” she added.
Khan’s husband, Shirish Kunder is a film director and editor. After working on 21 films as its editor, Kunder made his directorial debut with ‘Jaan-E-Mann’ (2006). He met Khan when she made her directorial debut with ‘Main Hoon Na’ (2004). The couple got married on December 9, 2004. The duo welcomed their triplets in 2008.
