Many schemes for workers were implemented in Uttar Pradesh in the 9 years of Yogi government. E-Shram portal, employment mission, social security, housing and education schemes benefited crores of workers and improved their standard of living.

Lucknow. The Uttar Pradesh government under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has done extensive work in the field of workers’ welfare, social security and employment generation in the last 9 years. Based on the spirit of “Shramev Jayate”, the government has implemented many schemes for organized and unorganized sector workers, construction workers, self-employed people and their families. These schemes have provided economic and social strength to the workers.

E-Shram Portal: UP No. 1 in the country

The biggest achievement towards the empowerment of workers is that Uttar Pradesh has reached the first position in the country in registration on the e-Shram portal. Till now, more than 8.42 crore unorganized workers have been registered on this portal. This portal ensures the identification of workers and helps in connecting them with government schemes. Along with this, Jan Dhan accounts of more than 9.52 crore workers have been opened, making it easier for them to get direct financial assistance.

Employment Generation: UP Employment Mission and Job Fair

To increase employment, the government has started “Uttar Pradesh Employment Mission”. Under this, efforts are being made to provide jobs to the youth in the country and abroad. So far more than 5,978 construction workers have found employment abroad (Israel). 59,602 skilled workers have been registered on the Sevamitra portal. Apart from this, more than 15.96 lakh youth have got jobs through 13,148 employment fairs. More than 32 lakh youth have been given guidance through 28,621 career counseling programmes.

Social Security Schemes for Workers

The government has implemented many schemes to provide security to the workers. In case of accidental death of a registered worker, assistance of ₹ 5 lakh is given and in case of normal death, ₹ 2 lakh is given. For unregistered workers also, assistance of ₹ 2 lakh is given in case of accidental death or total disability and ₹ 1 lakh in case of partial disability. Apart from this, there is a provision of ₹ 5 lakh in case of death at workplace and ₹ 25,000 for funeral.

Plans for family: marriage, motherhood and education

Many schemes are also being run for the welfare of the families of the workers. Assistance up to ₹55,000 is given for marriage of daughters of registered workers and ₹61,000 is given for inter-caste marriage. More than 6 lakh beneficiaries have received assistance under the Maternity, Child and Girl Child Support Scheme.

Under the Bal Shramik Vidya Yojana, children are being given ₹1,000 (boys) and ₹1,200 (girls) every month. Besides, Atal Residential Schools have been opened in 18 mandals, where children are getting free and better education. Dr. A.P.J. Technical education is also being promoted through Abdul Kalam Workers Technical Education Assistance Scheme.

Housing, pension and improvement in standard of living

Housing schemes are also being run to improve the living standards of workers. The process of providing free housing to sanitation workers is underway, while loans for housing are being provided to construction workers.

Construction of labor bases is also going on at a rapid pace. 7,04,865 workers have joined under the Pradhan Mantri Shramyogi Maandhan Yojana, while 16,457 people have been registered under the Pradhan Mantri Laghu Vyapar Maandhan Yojana. More than 93 lakh people have benefited from Atal Pension Yojana. Apart from this, more than 7 crore workers have been given ration cards and family IDs.

UP is becoming stronger due to labor empowerment

These steps taken in 9 years of Yogi government have improved the standard of living of the workers. They have got economic and social security and new employment opportunities have also been created. These efforts are not only empowering the workers but also giving impetus to the overall development of Uttar Pradesh.
