UP Khadi and Village Industries Department made record achievements in the financial year 2025-26. More than 32 thousand jobs were created through various schemes including PMEGP. Skills, marketing and Khadi products got new identity.
Lucknow. In the financial year 2025-26, Uttar Pradesh Khadi and Village Industries Department has achieved remarkable success in strengthening the rural economy and promoting self-employment. Under the guidance of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the department has registered new achievements in the field of employment, skill development and marketing by effectively implementing various schemes. In most of the schemes, progress has been made more than the target, which realizes the vision of ‘Atmanirbhar Uttar Pradesh’.
More than 32 thousand jobs through Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Program
With the aim of connecting rural youth with self-employment, under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Program (PMEGP), in the year 2025-26, 2,994 village industry units were established more than the target, employment was created for 32,384 people. Whereas the target under this scheme was only 2,482 units and 27,302 employment.
Youth benefit from Chief Minister Village Industries Employment Scheme
Under the Chief Minister Village Industries Employment Scheme, 94 new units were established in the state and employment was provided to 2,586 youth. This scheme is proving important in promoting self-employment and economic self-reliance in rural areas.
Effective operation of Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay Khadi Marketing Scheme
Under Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay Khadi Marketing Development Assistance Scheme-
- 219 Khadi Village Industries institutions of the state benefited
- Direct benefit to 66,859 artisans
Along with this, 7,448 blankets were produced under the promotion of cotton and woolen textiles.
1,092 units strengthened through Village Industries Employment Scheme
Through Pt. Deendayal Gramodyog Rojgar Yojana, assistance was provided to 1,092 village industry units of the state. This gave new impetus to small and cottage industries in rural areas and increased local employment opportunities.
Design and quality improvement in Khadi in collaboration with NIFT
To make Khadi garments modern and youth-friendly, training in designing, cutting, stitching and packaging was provided to 40 young artisans last year in collaboration with National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Rae Bareli. A budget provision of Rs 30 lakh was made in the year 2025-26.
Emphasis on standardization of Khadi products and skill development
Under the Khadi Product Development, Standardization and Quality Assurance Campaign, training and equipment were distributed to 245 persons at a cost of Rs 59 lakh. Apart from this, 8,750 beneficiaries were provided training in various trades under the Skill Improvement Training Scheme.
Khadi exhibitions at divisional and tehsil level
For the promotion of Khadi and village industries products, exhibitions were organized in 18 divisions, awareness programs in 351 tehsils and a total expenditure of Rs 755 lakh was spent. This increased market access for rural entrepreneurs and also increased their income.
Encouragement done by giving awards to excellent entrepreneurs
Small and cottage entrepreneurs and institutions doing excellent work in export, marketing and others were honored with awards. These achievements of Khadi and Village Industries Department are becoming a strong foundation in the direction of self-reliant Uttar Pradesh under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
