The effect of the MSP policy of the Yogi government was visible in the Kharif marketing year 2025-26 in UP. Paddy procurement reached close to 25 lakh metric tonnes, 4.09 lakh farmers were involved and Rs 5,569 crore was paid. There was also an increase in the purchase of millet and jowar.

Lucknow. The impact of the Yogi government’s policies regarding paddy procurement during the Kharif marketing year 2025-26 in Uttar Pradesh is clearly visible on the ground. Linking the purchase of paddy at Minimum Support Price (MSP) to the interests of farmers, the government has not only expedited the procurement process but has also made the payment system transparent and time bound.

Significant increase in farmers’ participation

This year, there has been a clear increase in the participation of farmers in paddy procurement. So far in the year 2025-26, 4,09,444 farmers are directly involved in paddy procurement, whereas last year this number was 3,73,840. This increase shows that farmers’ confidence in the simple and reliable system created under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has increased.

The total figure of paddy purchase is around 25 lakh metric tons.

So far in the current Kharif marketing year 2025-26, the total figure of paddy procurement has reached 25,02,149.60 metric tons. Along with procurement, the government has also given priority to the dispatch and storage of paddy, due to which the procurement process remains smooth.

Role of middlemen ended with online system

With the process of farmer registration and verification being completely online, the role of middlemen has almost been eliminated. Farmers are able to sell their produce directly at government procurement centres, ensuring fair prices and timely payment.

Payment of Rs 5,569.97 crore to farmers so far

The government has also adopted a responsible stance on the payment front. Till now, Rs 5,569.97 crore has been paid to farmers for paddy purchase. This process of payment is being done in a timely and transparent manner.

4,743 online paddy procurement centers are working

To strengthen the paddy procurement system, 4,743 online procurement centers are being operated in the state. Last year this number was 4,347 centres. With the opening of more centres, farmers are getting the facility to sell their produce near their homes.

Increase in farmer registration and verification also

A total of 8,82,988 farmers have been registered for paddy till December 19, 2025. Out of these, verification of 6,68,698 farmers has been completed. During the same period last year, 7,13,600 farmers were registered and 6,10,135 farmers were verified. It is clear from this that the pace of both registration and verification has increased this year.

More than double increase in purchase of millet

So far, 1,72,109.30 metric tonnes of millet has been purchased in the state in the year 2025-26. Last year this figure was 81,058.91 metric tons. In the current year, 41,568 farmers sold millet, while last year only 15,096 farmers were involved in the process.

Improvement in sorghum purchase, farmers got payment

The purchase of jowar in the current year has been 26,448.60 metric tons. This year, 7,814 farmers sold jowar under the government procurement system, which is more than 7,282 farmers last year. Rs 91.49 crore has been paid to jowar farmers so far.

82 online purchasing centers activated for jowar

To streamline jowar procurement, 82 online purchasing centers are being operated in the state. Through these centres, farmers are getting the benefit of transparent system and timely payment.
