Road Safety Mitra Program and Rahveer Scheme are being promoted in UP under the leadership of CM Yogi Adityanath. 423 youth are active in 28 districts and 5 Rahveers have been selected, with the aim of reducing accidents and deaths.

Under the guidance of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, ‘Sadak Suraksha Mitra’ program and ‘Raahveer’ scheme are being taken forward rapidly in Uttar Pradesh to effectively control road accidents and increase public awareness. Following the instructions of the Chief Minister, both these schemes are being actively implemented in all the districts of the state.
The main objective of these schemes is to connect youth with road safety, increase awareness among common citizens and provide timely medical aid to road accident victims. On one hand this will reduce road accidents, while on the other hand the number of deaths after accidents will also reduce.
Responsibility assigned to district road safety committees
The state government has given the responsibility to the District Road Safety Committees for effective monitoring and implementation of these schemes. Through these committees, road safety is being given the form of a mass movement, so that every section of the society becomes a participant in it.
Road Safety Mitra program is active in 28 districts of the state
The Central Government’s ‘Sadak Suraksha Mitra’ scheme is currently active in 28 districts of Uttar Pradesh. This program focuses on making youth active participants in road safety campaigns. Till now, 423 youth volunteers in the state have registered on ‘My Bharat’ portal and are receiving training. These volunteers are being given information about road safety rules, accident management and public awareness campaigns.
First training camp organized in Noida, budget of Rs 14 lakh approved
Under this programme, the State Public Service Foundation had organized the first training camp in Gautam Buddha Nagar (Noida). In this, volunteers were given training on various aspects related to road safety. A budget of Rs 14 lakh has been approved for the Road Safety Mitra Programme. There is a provision of Rs 50 thousand per district for 28 districts. This amount will be spent on training, awareness programs and regional activities.
Development of awareness and social responsibility among youth
Successful implementation of this program is expected to reduce road accidents in the state. Besides, the sense of social responsibility and civic duty will also be strengthened among the youth.
Rahveer scheme focuses on golden hour
‘Raahveer’ scheme focuses on providing prompt medical care to the victim in the golden hour (first one hour) after a road accident. This scheme has been started by the Ministry of Road and Transport. Under this scheme, whoever takes the accident victim to the hospital in time is given a reward of Rs 25,000. Its objective is to reduce the number of deaths in accidents.
So far 5 Rahveers have been selected in UP
So far 5 ‘Rahveer’ have been selected under this scheme in Uttar Pradesh. These are from Rahveer Basti, Kaushambi, Sitapur, Aligarh and Kasganj districts. Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) has been made the nodal officer of this scheme in every district, so that better implementation of the scheme can be ensured.
These schemes are giving new direction in UP which has huge road network.
Both these schemes are giving a new dimension to road safety in Uttar Pradesh, a state with the largest number of highways and huge road network. Under the guidance of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the transport department has planned to organize more training camps in the coming months. The government has appealed to the citizens, especially the youth, to actively participate in these schemes and contribute in making the roads of the state safe.
