Taking a big initiative for the rural youth, the Yogi government has decided to open digital libraries in 11,350 gram panchayats. Here e-books, video lectures and modern facilities for preparation of competitive examinations will be available.
Lucknow. The state government has taken a big initiative under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to provide the rural youth of Uttar Pradesh an opportunity for modern education and better preparation for competitive examinations. On the instructions of the Chief Minister, in the first phase, digital libraries are being established in 11,350 gram panchayats of the state. With this, students of villages will now be able to prepare for civil services and other competitive examinations without depending on cities.
Investment of Rs 4 lakh on every digital library
Rs 4 lakh will be spent on the construction and operation of each digital library. This will include:
- Arrangement of books worth Rs 2 lakh
- IT equipment worth Rs 1.30 lakh
- Modern furniture worth Rs 70 thousand
All necessary facilities for studies will be provided in these digital libraries.
Digital facilities will be available from e-books to video lectures.
E-books, video lectures, audio content, quizzes and about 20 thousand digital educational materials will be made available to the students in the digital library. With this, rural students will be able to do quality studies by connecting with technology and prepare better for competitive examinations.
Digital libraries will open in all districts in a phased manner
Panchayati Raj Director Amit Kumar Singh said that on the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, digital libraries will be opened in gram panchayats of all the districts of the state in a phased manner. This will improve the level of education in rural areas and youth will become more capable for employment.
Digital library will be operated at Gram Panchayat level
The digital library will be operated by the village head and village secretary. Assistant officers will be deployed for its regular monitoring and supervision, so that the smooth functioning of the library can be ensured.
Scheme to digitally empower rural talents
Under this ambitious scheme of Yogi government, the selection of books has been completed in 35 districts. Digital libraries will soon be started in the gram panchayats of these districts including the capital Lucknow. This initiative is an important step to digitally empower rural talent keeping in mind the goal of ‘Develop India 2047’.

Amroha, Azamgarh, Banda, Ballia, Baghpat, Badaun, Bareilly, Bijnor, Chitrakoot, Etah, Fatehpur, Farrukhabad, Firozabad, Ghaziabad, Ghazipur, Hardoi, Hapur, Jalaun, Kanpur Dehat, Kannauj, Kaushambi, Kasganj, Lucknow, Mau, Moradabad, Muzaffarnagar, Pratapgarh, Prayagraj, Rae Bareli, Sambhal, Shamli, Siddharthnagar, Shravasti, Sultanpur and Sitapur.
