UP Girls Welfare Scheme: Under the Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana, so far about 27 lakh girls have got benefits in Uttar Pradesh. Yogi government has strengthened the education and empowerment of daughters by spending more than Rs 647 crore on this scheme.

Lucknow: Yogi Adityanath government is continuously taking concrete steps regarding respect, education and empowerment of daughters in Uttar Pradesh. In this context, Chief Minister Kanya Sumangala Yojana has today become a ray of hope for lakhs of families. Through this scheme, the government has given a clear message that daughters are not a burden but the biggest strength of the society. So far, about 27 lakh eligible girls have been given benefits under this scheme. The government has spent Rs 647.21 crore on this scheme. These figures show that the scheme is not just limited to papers but is being implemented effectively at the ground level.

Welfare of girls is priority of government

Yogi government has made adequate budget provision every year for the scheme. In the current year itself, assistance amounting to Rs 130.03 crore has been given to 3.28 lakh girls. It is clear from this that the government is pursuing the welfare of daughters as a long-term policy.

Strong initiative towards gender equality

This scheme, started in the year 2019, is especially for the families native to Uttar Pradesh. The main eligibility conditions are that the annual income of the family should not exceed Rs 3 lakh, there should be a maximum of 2 children in the family. The objective of this scheme is to ensure that the education or future of any daughter does not stop due to financial compulsion.

Kanya Sumangala Yojana assistance amount increased

In the financial year 2024-25, the government has given a big relief by increasing the total assistance amount from Rs 15,000 to Rs 25,000. This amount is given in 6 phases. ₹ 5,000 at birth, ₹ 2,000 at 2 years of age (on completion of vaccination), ₹ 3,000 on admission in class 1, ₹ 3,000 on admission in class 6, ₹ 5,000 on admission in class 9 and ₹ 7,000 on admission in higher education after class 10-12. This assistance is motivating daughters to move ahead at every stage of their studies.
