Yogi government has decided to strengthen the Anti Narcotics Task Force to take strict action against illegal drug trade. There will be regular deployment in ANTF and 150 new posts will be filled, which will intensify the action against drug mafias.
Lucknow. Yogi government is now going to take a big and decisive step against the illegal drug smugglers who push the youth of the state into the trap of drugs. For this, the government has decided to further strengthen the Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF). Till now, deployment of policemen in ANTF was done on deputation basis, while there was shortage of force as per the prescribed norms in the department. In view of this, the government has decided to provide full force as per the deployment and appointment of regular policemen in ANTF. On one hand, this will increase the strength of the department, while on the other hand, it will speed up action against illegal drug dealers.
ANTF was formed in 2022
ANTF IG Abdul Hameed said that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had formed ANTF in the year 2022 with the aim of strict control on illegal drugs in the state and strict action against drug mafias. During this period, 6 police stations and 8 units were established in the state, so that effective action could be taken against the illegal drug network.
A total of 46 posts are scheduled to be posted in police stations and units.
Under ANTF, deployment has been fixed for 28 posts in police stations. These include-
- 1 inspector
- 4 Sub Inspector
- 3 Computer Operator
- 3 Chief Constable
- 12 constables
- 2 reserve drivers
- 3 class IV employees
Similarly, there is a provision for deployment of 18 police officers and employees in the ANTF unit, which includes-
- 1 Deputy Superintendent of Police
- 1 inspector
- 2 Sub Inspector
- 1 computer operator
- 2 chief constables
- 8 constables
- 2 reserve drivers
- 2 class IV employees
Recently, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had also held a review meeting of ANTF with higher officials.
Structure of 386 posts, currently posted only on 236
In the review meeting, the officials told the Chief Minister that at present most of the policemen in ANTF are deployed on deputation and the force is not available as per the standards. On this, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath gave clear instructions that all the policemen should be deployed regularly in ANTF and the force should be made available as soon as possible as per the set standards.
According to the IG, a total of 386 posts are allotted in ANTF, which includes 15 gazetted officers, 59 in the headquarters, 168 posts in 6 police stations, 144 posts in 8 units. At present, 236 posts have been posted in the department, while 150 posts are still vacant.
150 new brave men will be deployed soon
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed that to break the back of illegal drug dealers, ANTF should not only be given full force, but modern equipment and resources should also be made available immediately. Following the instructions of the CM, new appointments will soon be made on 150 vacant posts, which will make the action against drug mafias more effective.
