Yogi government has started a big campaign against illegal drug dealers. ANTF and FSDA seized codeine and narcotic drugs worth lakhs, 128 FIRs were registered and many arrests were made. Sales were banned at more than two dozen medical stores.
Lucknow. Yogi government is continuously taking strict action against illegal drug dealers to save the youth of the state from the drug trap. On the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, joint action of ANTF (Anti Narcotics Task Force) and Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) is going on in the entire state.
Under this campaign, strict control is being exercised over illegal storage, purchase and distribution of codeine cough syrup and narcotics category medicines. Till now, illegal codeine and narcotic drugs worth lakhs have been seized, while 128 FIRs have been registered. Apart from this, more than half a dozen illegal drug dealers have been arrested and sent to jail.
Sales banned at more than two dozen medical stores
Commissioner, Food Safety and Drug Administration, Dr. Roshan Jacob said that on the instructions of the Chief Minister, a large-scale raid and inspection campaign is going on across the state. Till now, raids have been conducted on many establishments and illegal medicines worth lakhs of rupees have been sealed.
The sale of codeine and narcotic medicines has been banned at more than two dozen medical stores until further investigation of the records found suspicious during the investigation is completed. A special campaign is going on to prevent illegal purchase and movement of codeine, narcotic and psychotropic drugs.
Dr. Roshan Jacob said that information about illegal storage, purchase, sale or transportation of medicines that are counterfeit or misused as intoxicants can be given on the department’s WhatsApp number 8756128434.
Strict action has been taken against illegal narcotic drugs by conducting raids in many districts and cases have been registered under the NDPS Act.
128 FIRs were registered in these districts
According to Commissioner Dr. Roshan Jacob, a total of 128 FIRs have been registered in 28 districts in the ongoing campaign. These mainly include-
- Varanasi: 38
- Jaunpur: 16
- Kanpur City: 8
- Ghazipur: 6
- Lakhimpur Kheri: 4
- Lucknow: 4
A total of 52 FIRs have been registered in other districts like Bahraich, Bijnor, Prayagraj, Pratapgarh, Sitapur, Sonbhadra, Balrampur, Rae Bareli, Sant Kabir Nagar, Hardoi, Shravasti, Siddharthnagar, Unnao, Basti, Ambedkarnagar, Azamgarh, Saharanpur, Bareilly, Sultanpur, Chandauli, Mirzapur etc. This campaign is continuing continuously in the state.
