Yogi government is in alert mode regarding cold wave and dense fog in Uttar Pradesh. Arrangements have been made for distribution of 1247 night shelters, bonfires and blankets across the state. So far, more than 1.40 lakh blankets have been distributed, while crores of alert messages have been issued regarding fog.
Amidst the harsh cold and dense fog, the Uttar Pradesh government has raised a strong shield of relief and condolences. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the state administration is on full alert for the poor, destitute and needy people struggling with the cold wave. From night shelters to bonfires and blanket distribution, every arrangement to protect against cold has been activated at the ground level, so that no person spends the night shivering.
1247 night shelters across the state, thousands got shelter
In view of the cold wave, 1247 night shelters have been established so far in the state. More than 9949 needy people have taken shelter in these night shelters. The district administration has been instructed to ensure proper arrangements for cleanliness, lighting, hot water and security in night shelters, so that people can get a safe environment amid the cold.

Blanket distribution gets top priority
The state government has given priority to distribution of blankets to protect from cold. In the last three years, an average of 10.65 lakh blankets were purchased, on which an amount of approximately Rs 44.38 crore was spent. Under the ongoing winter arrangement, Rs 17.55 crore has been released to all the districts. Purchase orders for purchasing blankets have been issued by 75 districts. Till now the supply of 3,78,884 blankets has been completed, while 1,40,364 blankets have been distributed to the needy. Distribution of remaining blankets is continuing.
Rs 1.75 crore allocated for bonfire
To provide relief from the cold, proper arrangements have been made for lighting bonfires at public places in all the districts of the state. An amount of Rs 1.75 crore has been allocated for this. Information about the bonfires being lit daily in the districts is being uploaded on the relief portal, due to which there is constant monitoring at the government level.
Technical alert system activated regarding fog
The government has taken the help of technology to prevent road accidents caused by dense fog. So far, 33.27 crore alert SMS have been issued by the Relief Commissioner’s Office through the Sachet app and web portal. These messages have been conveyed to the officials as well as the common citizens. Apart from this, fog related alerts are being continuously sent through e-mail to the District Magistrates and District Police by departments like UPDA, NHAI and PWD.
The government has given clear instructions that no needy person should suffer from cold during the cold wave. District administration, municipal bodies and concerned departments have been ordered to conduct relief work with full sensitivity and promptness. In this period of cold wave, this relief campaign of Uttar Pradesh government has emerged as a strong example of not only administrative vigilance but also human compassion.
