CM Yogi Adityanath inspected the night shelters of Gorakhpur and distributed blankets and food to the needy. He instructed the officials that no person should remain in the open in the cold. Orders were given to strengthen the arrangements for night shelters, blanket distribution and bonfires.

Gorakhpur. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the government is fully committed to protecting the needy from the cold wave and providing respectable shelter. For this, night shelters are being run with full capacity. Besides, adequate funds have been given to tehsils and municipal bodies for distribution of woolen clothes, blankets and arrangements for bonfire.

CM Yogi was talking to the media after inspecting two night shelters in Gorakhpur metropolis late on Wednesday evening/night. During the inspection, he directed the officials to ensure that every needy person gets good facilities in the night shelter. Adequate bedding, blankets and cleanliness should be ensured in all night shelters. Food should also be provided to those who do not have access to food.

Inspection of night shelters near railway station and Jhulelal temple

The Chief Minister inspected the night shelters built near the railway station and Jhulelal Temple and talked to the people staying there and got information about the facilities. He also distributed blankets and food to the needy with his own hands. By giving blankets and food to hundreds of needy people outside the railway station, he assured them that the government stands with them.

Intimate conversation with people staying in night shelters

CM Yogi inquired about the well being of all the people staying in night shelters and had a cordial conversation with them. Here there were people from Deoria, Kushinagar, Ballia, Gagaha, Chaurichaura and other areas of Purvanchal. Some people had come to take exams, some for treatment, and some in search of employment. People coming from Bihar were also staying in night shelters. When the Chief Minister asked about their needs and problems, people became emotional. Many people could not believe that the Chief Minister himself reached the night shelter for them and inquired about their condition.

CM Yogi Adityanath’s message: Every person’s life is precious, no one should live in the open

After the inspection, the Chief Minister said that the government and administration are fully sensitive to protect against severe cold and cold wave. He said that every person’s life is valuable. Officials have been instructed to ensure that no person is found lying in the open on the road, platform or footpath. If anyone like this is seen, he should be taken to a night shelter and should be constantly monitored.

He said that funds have been made available to the Municipal Corporation and Tehsils for arranging blankets, woolen clothes and bonfires for the needy. Wherever necessary, arrangements for lighting bonfires should be made compulsorily.

Operation of 14 night shelters in Gorakhpur

The Chief Minister said that currently 14 night shelters are being run by the Municipal Corporation Gorakhpur, in which there is accommodation for 700 to 1000 people. He said that all the arrangements are being taken forward in an effective and sensitive manner.

Public representatives and officials were present during the inspection

During this, Mayor Dr. Manglesh Srivastava, MLC Dr. Dharmendra Singh, MLA Vipin Singh, Mahant Ravindradas of Kalibari, Deputy Chairman of Municipal Corporation Board Pawan Tripathi, Councilor Rishi Mohan Verma, Dharamdev Chauhan and officials of administration, police and municipal corporation were present.
