New Delhi: The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has put forward a proposal for Patanjali to sublease 50 acres of its allotted land in Sector 24A to Innova Food Park, Kolar, Karnataka. This move could help Innova set up a major agricultural export hub in western Uttar Pradesh and strengthen the region’s food processing network.
The Uttar Pradesh government is focusing on developing western UP as an industrial and export center, especially around Jewar International Airport. A food park near the Yamuna Expressway is a key part of this plan. Patanjali’s involvement is seen as crucial to turning this vision into reality.
YEIDA’s Proposal to Patanjali
According to YEIDA’s Special Executive Officer Shailendra Bhatia, the authority has already discussed the proposal with Patanjali. The company has not yet given a final response. Under the project terms, Patanjali can sublease up to 20% of its allotted land. The 50-acre plot in question is well-located and already approved for agricultural processing. If Patanjali agrees, the move could benefit both the company and the broader food park project.
A Step Toward Agri-Export Growth
This initiative is part of the World Bank supported “UP Agricultural Development and Rural Enterprise Ecosystem Strengthening Project.” It aims to improve farm to market connections and expand agricultural exports through Jewar Airport. The proposed food park will include modern facilities for testing, grading, and packaging farm and horticultural produce for export.
Situated just 10 kilometers from the airport’s cargo terminal, it will make it easier and faster to export goods to global markets like the Middle East, Europe, and Russia.
Patanjali received 430 acres in 2017 to build a food and herbal park in Sector 24. If it agrees to sublease 50 acres to Innova, the collaboration could turn West UP into a key hub for agricultural exports, benefiting local farmers and businesses alike.
