Whenever we wake up or fall asleep, it is common to yawn. But imagine, how would you feel if one morning after yawning, your body suddenly gets a strong electric shock and you become life-threatening?
A woman had a similar experience. He says that one morning he saw his newborn daughter yawning and he himself also yawned. Then suddenly he felt like an electric shock in his body. The condition worsened so much that he had to remain admitted in the hospital for several days. After this, several tests were conducted, in which it was found that he had an injury to his spinal cord, which was later repaired by operation.
Having a seizure after yawning
Haley Black told The Sun – “Most people start their day by yawning. I also yawned in the normal way, but suddenly half of my body felt like an electric shock. My hand stopped in the air and I felt as if I was having a seizure. At that time I was convinced that something was very serious. However, when she told this to her husband, he initially did not take it seriously and said – “It is 5 in the morning, you are fine, nothing special has happened.
The woman told that my hand got stuck in the air and I felt like an electric shock. Black told that he felt as if half of his body was having a stroke. At that moment he was convinced that something was “horribly wrong”. However, when she told her husband about her situation, he initially said that it was nothing special. It’s 5 in the morning, you haven’t done anything, you’re fine.
The truth came out after getting tested
Black insisted on speaking to her husband and after some time called the emergency services. Recalling her journey in the ambulance, she said, “The journey was excruciating. Every push along the way felt as if my spine was breaking.” Black remembers that when he was admitted, he told the doctors about his pain, but initially they did not see any problem. The truth later came out after some tests were done. According to Black, he suffered the injury when two bones (vertebrae) in his neck came apart while yawning. She slipped and pressed forward on her spinal cord, due to which her spinal cord got compressed.
became completely paralyzed
Haley recalled, “I was completely paralyzed on my right side.” Describing his surgery, Black said, “The surgeon told my mother that it was much worse than she expected. They gave me a 50/50 chance – not only of walking again, but also of surviving the surgery. “When I came to, I had undergone emergency surgery and they told me that they had managed to complete all my surgeries.
Woman suffered from strange illness
The woman told that it was surprising, but I was still in shock. I kept thinking, ‘I broke my neck yawning, how could this happen?'” This incident affected him mentally and physically. He later developed a disease called fibromyalgia, which causes constant pain and fatigue. It also ruined his family’s life and permanently damaged his spinal cord.
Woman feels afraid to yawn
The woman told that it was really very difficult, we even became homeless because of it. She recalled claiming, “I couldn’t work, I couldn’t take care of the kids, and our whole world turned upside down.” She further said that now she cannot yawn without feeling nervous. Whenever I feel a yawn coming, I try to suppress it. It still affects me every day. However, she thanked her medical team, saying, “The fact that I am not in a wheelchair is a miracle. I thank them every day that I am here, I can walk and be with my children.
