The English version of Kannada-language pan-India film ‘Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups’, starring Rocking Star Yash, will release in cinemas across India on September 4, the makers announced on Thursday.
The English version has a runtime of 2 hours and 57 minutes and was shot alongside the Kannada version, allowing audiences to experience the film in English in its original form on the big screen.
The film will be released in English across several cities, including Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kochi and Trivandrum, among others.
Directed by Geetu Mohandas, ‘Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups’ features Yash, Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Tara Sutaria, Rukmini Vasanth and Huma Qureshi in pivotal roles. Blending action and drama with an expansive visual world, the film has been mounted on a large scale, with Yash also serving as its co-writer.
The English release comes amid a theatrical run that has fallen short of the expectations surrounding Yash’s return after ‘KGF Chapter 2’.
The film opened strongly, collecting more than Rs 100 crore net in India on its opening day. However, its collections declined sharply from the second day and slipped into single digits during its first week.
Mixed reviews and polarised audience reactions have further affected the film’s theatrical momentum. By the end of its first week, its box-office performance remained below expectations considering its scale, star power and reported investment.
The film’s box-office trajectory has consequently emerged as one of the major talking points surrounding ‘Toxic’.
