New Delhi:Yangwang, the premium brand from BYD U9 Track Edition, has come up with a new top speed record in the electric vehicle lineup. The Yangwang U9 came up with a speed record of 472.41 kph in Germany at the APT Automotive Testing Papenburg track on August 8.
Yangwang U9 Track Edition
The Yangwang U9 Track Edition is mostly the same as the regular U9 electric car, but BYD’s performance division has updated the software for its four 30,000 rpm motors (one at each wheel) to develop 555 kW. Which means that each motor now produces about 755 hp, giving the car a combined output of over 3,000 hp. This results in a power-to-weight ratio of 1,217 hp per tonne. To put that into perspective, the Koenigsegg One:1 was famous for its 1:1 ratio, or 1,000 hp per ton.
The Track Edition also comes with a few changes aimed at circuit driving, such as semi-slick tires developed by Giti Tire and a carbon-fiber front splitter, which was previously just an optional feature. Other than these updates, the car remains the same as the standard U9, including its quad-motor torque-vectoring system and the DiSus-X suspension setup, which is designed to handle rough road conditions, even allowing the car to hop over potholes.
