New Delhi: In view of the rising water level in Yamuna river, the Loha Pul (also called Old Iron Bridge) has been closed for traffic until further notice. The Delhi Traffic Police (DTP) shared a detailed advisory in this regard and urged commuters to plan their journey accordingly.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the Delhi Traffic Police said, “TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Due to rising water levels in Yamuna, Old Iron Bridge will remain closed for traffic & public movement w.e.f. 02.09.2025, 04:00 PM till further orders. Traffic to be diverted via Hanuman Setu, Raja Ram Kohli Marg & Geeta Colony Road. Avoid Old Iron Bridge & adjoining stretches. Use public transport & plan travel with sufficient time. #DPTrafficAdvisory”
Traffic diversion points
- Under Hanuman Setu
- Old Iron Bridge (West side)
- Bela Road (Closed road, behind Red Fort)
- Old Iron Bridge (East side)
- Complete closure of traffic movement on Old Iron Bridge from both sides w.e.f. 04:00 PM on 02.09.2025 till further orders.
Loha Pul closed: Check alternative routes
- From ISBT Kashmiri Gate/Old Delhi Railway Station/Red Fort side: diverted via Under Hanuman Setu Outer Ring Road Loop on Raja Ram Kohli Marg Geeta Colony Road
- From Rajghat/Shanti Van side (via Bela Road): diverted from Bela Road T-Point on Ring Road Shanti Van Chowk Raja Ram Kohli Marg→Geeta Colony Road
- From North-East Delhi (Shahdara/Seelampur/Shastri Park): diverted via Pushta Road→ Loop on Raja Ram Kohli Marg Ring Road
- From East Delhi (Akshardham/Mayur Vihar/Pandav Nagar): diverted from Geeta Colony Flyover/Geeta Colony Road T-Point Geeta Colony Flyover Shanti Van Chowk Ring Road (MGM)
The Delhi Traffic Police also advised commuters to:
- Avoid travelling through Old Iron Bridge and adjoining roads
- Keep sufficient time in hand to accommodate possible delays
- Maximum use of public transport is advised to reduce congestion
- Park only at designated parking lots
- Avoid roadside parking to ensure smooth traffic flow
- Remain patient, adhere to traffic rules and cooperate with traffic personnel for a smooth experience.
- Follow the directions of the police deployed at key intersections.
