Yami Gautam Gets Candid About Balancing Career And Mom Guilt, Says ‘It’s A Very Hard-To-Ignore Emotion’

Yami Gautam is one of the most versatile actresses in the Hindi film industry, who has carved a distinct space for herself in the show business.

Movies like Article 370, Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga, Uri: The Surgical Strike and others helped her build a strong and credible screen presence. Along with a demanding career, the actress is now embracing her journey as a mother. Yami recently shared her insights on motherhood. She revealed her perspective on work-life balance and how mom guilt is a lot more than just a word. The actress also added how her mother stepped in to guide her through this journey.

Yami Gautam recently shared her take on balancing motherhood with full-time work commitments and the guilt that comes with it. While talking to Humans of Bombay, she said, “Guilt is not just a strong word, it’s an emotion. It’s a very hard-to-ignore emotion.”

She also talked about how her mother stepped in to help her navigate this journey and added, “She told me, don’t feel that guilt. I am here as your mother and I’ll always support you. If working makes you happy, you have worked all your life to reach here. You are not being selfish.”

She further claimed that her mother helped her understand that becoming a mother doesn’t mean giving up on one’s dreams. Yami added, “That is life, that’s god’s way of rewarding you. Your child is a blessing from god.” Yami Gautam also recalled the time when she found out she was expecting and shared, “I was expecting when I was shooting Article 370, so you can imagine how nervous I must have been.”

 

 

Kaabil actress also highlighted the importance of extending support towards a mother. She stated, “Whether you are a working mother or a stay-at-home mom, respect all mothers. There is no harm in asking for help. As a family, everyone must try to support the mother.”

She spoke up about how she adjusted her schedule to be with her baby and was also there to fulfil her professional responsibilities. She added, “There was only one weekly off and one operational flight. After pack-up, I would take that flight, spend one day with my baby and take the early morning flight back straight to the set.” “If you choose to work in an industry where the stakes are so high, you also need to do justice to that work. It’s your choice and if you make it, you must give it your 100 percent,” she wrapped up.

Yami Gautam was last seen in Suparn S. Varma’s courtroom drama Haq alongside Emraan Hashmi. The movie was released theatrically on November 7 and gained great critical acclaim for its groundbreaking performances, heart-touching storyline and courageous fight for justice.

 

 

Currently, Yami is reportedly preparing for her upcoming Aanand L. Rai movie Nayi Naveli. She is pairing up with Kriti Sanon for this horror-comedy project.
