digital payment
In the era of digital payments, UPI and online banking have made people’s lives easier. Now money can be sent anywhere in a few seconds. But with this speed a problem has also increased. Money transferred to wrong bank account or wrong UPI ID. Often people get nervous in such situations, whereas the truth is that if the complaint is made properly, there is a possibility of getting the money back.
While sending money, people usually check the account number, UPI ID and name several times, yet sometimes a small mistake becomes costly. If this has happened to you too, then first of all it is important to take immediate action instead of panicking.
Do this work first
If you have made payment through any UPI app like Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm or BHIM, then first contact the customer care of that app. There is an option of Help, Support or Report a Problem in the app. Go there, select the wrong transaction and lodge a complaint. While making a complaint, it is necessary to provide information like transaction ID, UTR number, date and amount. Based on this, the app’s support team submits a refund request through NPCI (National Payments Corporation of India).
You can also contact the bank
If you don’t get a solution even after talking to the app, the next step is to contact your bank. You can call the customer care number of the bank or go to the nearest branch and lodge a written complaint. The bank can start the reversal process by filing a dispute through NPCI.
Call NPCI helpline
Apart from this, you can also lodge a complaint directly by calling NPCI helpline 1800-120-1740. The option to lodge a complaint online is also available in the Dispute Redressal Mechanism section on the NPCI website. Here you have to provide information like transaction ID, UTR number, amount sent and both UPI IDs.
According to experts, complaining immediately after a wrong transaction significantly increases the chances of getting a refund. Therefore, as soon as the mistake is detected, the best way is to contact the app, bank or NPCI without delay. Vigilance is necessary in digital payment, but even if a mistake is made, loss can be avoided by adopting the correct procedure.
