GKamalini will represent Gujarat Giants in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2027 after being bought for ₹40 lakh at the auction in Kochi on Wednesday, October 28.
The young wicketkeeper-batter has taken a significant pay cut following her release by Mumbai Indians. Kamalini previously had a contract worth ₹1.1 crore, meaning her new deal represents a reduction of ₹70 lakh, or approximately 63.6%.
Kamalini had initially attracted considerable attention when Mumbai Indians signed her for ₹1.6 crore at the WPL 2025 auction. Her latest contract reflects a fresh opportunity to establish herself with a new franchise.
G Kamalini’s WPL performance
The left-handed batter from Tamil Nadu has featured in 14 WPL matches for Mumbai Indians across the 2025 and 2026 seasons. She has scored 107 runs at an average of 15.29 and a strike rate of 104.9, with a highest score of 32.
While her batting numbers leave room for improvement, Kamalini remains a promising young talent who can contribute as a top-order batter and wicketkeeper. Her performances at youth level helped establish her reputation, including her contribution to India’s victorious 2025 ICC Women’s Under-19 T20 World Cup campaign, where she was among the tournament’s leading run-scorers.
A fresh start with Gujarat Giants
Gujarat Giants will hope Kamalini can develop into a more consistent performer in the coming season. The move gives the youngster an opportunity to gain greater responsibility and build on her experience in one of women’s franchise cricket’s leading competitions.
