New Delhi: Nadine de Klerk picked up four wickets as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) restricted UP Warriorz (UPW) to a below-par 143/8 in the 18th league match of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 at the BCA Stadium in Kotambi, Vadodara, on January 29.
Deepti Sharma opened the innings with Meg Lanning as the duo stitched a 74-run partnership for the first wicket to give UPW a great start. But their innings lost momentum in the middle overs as De Klerk and Grace Harris helped RCB to pull things back.
UPW were 74/0 in eight overs, but slipped to 103/4 in the next few overs as wickets kept falling at regular intervals. Their run-rate dipped during the middle over, despite Deepti holding one end strongly.
The pair of Deepti and Lanning started the match cautiously, scoring just 12 runs in the opening three overs, before changing gears against Shreyanka Patil. Deepti smashed a wide full toss for a boundary while Lanning also hit a boundary.
Deepti then took on Lauren Bell and smashed her for 14 runs, while Lanning hit a boundary and a maximum against Sayali Satghare in the next over. Reddy also leaked 18 runs in the seventh over as Lanning hit four boundaries.
De Klerk breaks Shreyanka Patil’s record
The Warriorz were cruising at 68/0 loss in seven overs and eyeing a big total, but lost the momentum quickly. De Klerk delivered the first blow and dismissed Lanning for a 30-ball 41 before removing Amy Jones for 1 run. She also dismissed Simran Shaikh and Sophie Ecclestone to complete her four-wicket haul and became the bowler with the most wickets in a single season for RCB in WPL history.
De Klerk now has 15 wickets in the ongoing season, breaking Shreyanka Patil’s record of 13 wickets in the 2024 season. She also became the leading wicket-taker of the WPL 2026. Grace Harris also took two wickets as the UP Warriorz only managed to set a 144-run target for the RCB in a must-win match.
