Women’s Premier League 2026: UP Warriors maintained their dominance against Mumbai Indians in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025-26. On January 17, the first match of the double header was played at DY Patil Stadium, where UP Warriors won by 22 runs. In the 10th match of the season, UP Warriors continued their strong comeback in the season by defeating Mumbai Indians. This was the second match of the season between the two teams, where UP performed as brilliantly as in the first match. These two teams also faced each other on January 15, where UP won by 7 wickets.
UP Warriors’ dominance continues
Before the match, Mumbai Indians were looking strong as two-time champions, but UP Warriors showed the strength of their team and once again defeated Mumbai. Batting first in the match, UP Warriors scored 187 runs at the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs. During this, Meg Lanning played an inning of 70 runs, which included 11 fours and 2 sixes. Apart from them, Phoebe Litchfield also scored a quick 61 runs in 37 balls. Harleen Deol also contributed 25 runs and Chloe Tryon contributed 21 runs.
On the other hand, Amelia Kerr bowled amazingly for Mumbai and took 3 wickets for 28 runs in 4 overs. Nate Siver-Brunt also achieved 2 successes. Whereas, Nicola Carey, Haley Mathews and Amanjot Kaur took 1 wicket each.
Mumbai’s batting was a flop
Mumbai’s batting while chasing the target was nothing special. Haley Mathews returned to the pavilion after scoring 13 runs and Sajeevan Sajna scored 10 runs. After this, Nate Siver-Brunt also could not go beyond 15 runs. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur also returned to the pavilion after scoring 18 runs. However, Amelia Kerr tried to make a comeback in the match by scoring unbeaten 49 runs and Amanjot Kaur scored 41 runs, but by then the match had gone far away from Mumbai. The entire Mumbai team could score only 165 runs at the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs.
Shikha Pandey took maximum 2 wickets for UP. Apart from them, Kranti Gaur, Sophie Eccleston, Deepti Sharma and Chloe Tryon made 1-1 batsman their victims. Due to which the UP Warriors team was successful in achieving its second win of the season.
