Marc Márquez has made a strong start to the 2025 MotoGP season – with three wins in four rounds, along with all pole positions and Sprint races won.
The seventh title is becoming a more likely possibility, and it seems almost certain that the Ducati Lenovo rider will, at the very least, fight until the end for this goal.
If he wins another title, would Márquez use the #1 for the first time in his career in 2026? The season has only just begun, but the Spanish rider has already provided an answer: ‘No, I had the chance to wear the number #1 five years, because I won six [titles]. So, no. I would keep the #93’.
Despite Márquez never parting with «his own» #93, Ducati riders have always followed the tradition – as Francesco Bagnaia did in 2023 and 2024. This year, Jorge Martín also chose #1 despite moving to Aprilia, but neither Fabio Quartararo nor Joan Mir gave up their usual numbers in the years following their championships.
