The World Malayalee Council (WMC) has launched a significant initiative to support female students pursuing nursing studies abroad. During its 14th Biennial conference in Bangkok, WMC President Dr. Babu Stephen revealed a ₹1 crore scholarship program for students from Kerala. 100 students selected by a committee from 14 districts in Kerala will receive scholarships in the first round. Detailed application procedures and eligibility criteria will be announced soon.
Dinesh Nair Global Vice Chairman, the outgoing global secretary general said the World Malayalee Council is a global organization dedicated to connecting Malayalees worldwide, promoting cultural preservation, and fostering developmental activities. With over 65 globally and WMC provides a platform for Malayalees to network, participate in cultural events, and engage in social service.
The WMC global conference, which concluded in Bangkok, saw participation from over 565 delegates representing multiple countries, including the US, Canada, Middle East, Australia, and India. Notable attendees included MP John Brittas, former MP K Muraleedharan, MLA Saneesh Kumar, Sona Nair, and Murugan Kattakkada. The conference promoted Malayalee culture and unity worldwide.
Dr. Babu Stephen took over as the President and Thomas Mottackal as Chairman of WMC, with Shaji Mathew appointed as Secretary General and Sunny Veliath as Treasurer
