The process of making records for batsmen continues in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025. Sometimes Ashley Gardner’s century, sometimes Tazmin Britt’s century and sometimes Richa Ghosh’s biggest innings, along with some brilliant performances in the league stage of the Women’s World Cup, big records have also been made. But the biggest record in batting has now been made by a player who was born in a country where there was no mention of cricket till a few years ago. This player is Nate Siver-Brunt, who is captaining England this time and he scored a world record century against Sri Lanka.

Hosts Sri Lanka and England were face to face in the 12th match of the World Cup 2025 on Saturday 11 October in Colombo. England batted first in this match and in 50 overs the team scored 253 runs losing 9 wickets. If the English team was able to reach this score, it was because of the captain and star all-rounder Nate Siver-Brunt, who once again shone with his batting in the World Cup and scored an excellent century.

After the second wicket fell at the score of 49 runs in the 10th over, Siver-Brunt came to the crease and made a partnership of 60 runs with former captain Heather Knight. After Knight’s dismissal, the English innings gradually started to falter but captain Brunt did not give up and stood firm at one end. He completed his half-century in 57 balls and then attacked in the ‘death overs’ to increase the run rate. Brunt completed his 10th ODI century by hitting a six in the 49th over and with this created history.
