The upcoming ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 is scheduled to take place in India from September 30 to November 2. As per the official schedule, Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium was awarded four matches including the opening game.
The tournament will start with the match between the hosts India and Sri Lanka on September 30. In a possible major blow, the matches could be moved out of the iconic venue. According to a report in Cricbuzz, there is an uncertainty looming over the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 matches in Bengaluru because the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) is yet to obtain permission from the state government to host the 50-over World Cup matches.
“The uncertainty is in view of the tragic stampede in June when 11 fans died as Royal Challengers Bengaluru were celebrating their IPL success. The matter has since gone to the courts, and the state government has not yet given permission for the matches. The KSCA has shifted the Maharaja Cup T20 tournament from the city to Mysuru and is awaiting a nod on the Women’s World Cup,” the report read.
“There is some more time for this, and we’re going step by step,” he added.

Apart from the opening match, the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium is also scheduled to host a match between England and South Africa on October 4, the last league stage match between India and Bangladesh on October 26 and the second semifinal match on October 30. Notably, if Pakistan couldn’t make it to the final, then the summit clash of the Women’s World Cup 2025 will also take place in Bengaluru on November 2; otherwise, Colombo’s R. Premadasa Stadium will host the title decider.
ACA’s Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati, Holkar Stadium in Indore, ACA-VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam and R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo are the other four hosting venues for the ODI World Cup, which features eight teams – India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, England, New Zealand, South Africa and Australia.
